A Pasadena homeowner told officers he used his handgun to fatally shoot
a 42-year-old man Monday night as the man tried to come through the
front door of the shooter's Elvaton Drive home, according to Anne
Arundel County police.
Police said that when they arrived at the scene shortly before 9:30
p.m., they found the body of Jonathan David Dews of Ritchie Highway in
Pasadena.
Police would not release the homeowner's name or reveal details of the
shooting. Tax records show that Wallace J. Golebiewski owns the
two-story house.
"He told us he was trying to protect his home and life from an
intruder," Lt. Frederick Plitt, commander of the crimes against persons
unit, said of the homeowner.
Plitt said the two men, who live about a mile apart, knew each other,
but he would not describe their relationship.
Police said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Results of the police investigation will be forwarded for the state's
attorney's office for review.
Earlier this year, prosecutors declined to pursue murder charges against
a Pasadena woman who fatally shot a man she said was trying to
burglarize her rented home on Fox Court.
Calvin Dexter Booker Jr., 22, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the
upper body in the Jan. 27 incident, police said.
The woman told police that Booker and another man came through her
unlocked front door and demanded cash and jewelry, police said.
Police named neither the woman nor the other man.
Monday's slaying is the 14th homicide in Anne Arundel County this year.
There were 11 homicides last year.
