I've lived in Laurel my whole life and have shot at On Target since I started shooting. However, this weekend I'm moving to Pikesville, so On Target would be a long trip. Can any of you folks recommend a decent (preferably indoor) range in the (Northern) Baltimore area? thanks

Continental in Timonium is pretty good. It's right off I-83 on Deerco Rd. JeepDriver, who posts here and on mdshooters, works there and was really good to me on a recent purchase.

It's a nice place with a decent selection of firearms.

Continental Arms in Timonium is excellent. There are very nice people there (workers and cstomers) and the range is much nicer than On Target.

The only bad thing is that Continental is a little difficult to find the first time you go there.

thanks for the suggestion. I thought I'd heard people mention a good range around that area. According to Google Earth, Continental Arms is about 15 minutes from my apartment.

a decent selection of firearms.
I'm not sure if that's good or bad. My bank account wouldn't be very happy if I bought a new gun any time soon.

What about the Bethesda area? I'm moving there next summer. Any leads?

Nico, you'll also be not too far from the Hap Baker range on RTE 140 at the Carroll County landfill.

Rifle range out to 200 yards and a separate pistol range.

It's only 15 minutes from Pikesville.

Spot, I know about Hap Baker, but I didn't realize how close I'll be. My apt. is off of Old Pimlico, near 83, so (according to google) it's about half an hour to Hap Baker. That's still much closer than I'm used to (1hr), and for $15 to shoot all day, I might be going there more often.

Ken, I know the AGC range is in the area, but since I'm in school, it's not really worthwhile for me to spend the money on a club membership right now.

Does anybody know if there's a Wal Mart in the area that still sells WWB? Or anywhere to get 9mm for <$7/50 for that matter.

You can get an out of county year's membership for $70 at Hap -Baker. But you state a preference for an indoor range, for that, go to Continental.

I'm not sure what made me say indoor. Hap Baker's range more than suits my purposes.

One thing though: is the "season pass" an annual thing or do they have a set season? iirc, some other ranges (I'm thinking On Target, but don't quote me) have a set membership term (ie: October 1 - September 30), so if get your membership at the wrong time, you end up losing money.

Outdoor: Hap Baker
Indoor: Continental Arms
Trap: Loch Raven

The last two should be within fifteen minutes of you.

Other good news: Pikeville has (atleast) TWO gunshops.

Christian Soldier and Just Guns.

I am envious.

*Note: Hap baker's 'Season Pass' isn't. It's a yearly pass, and ends with the calendar year. Signing up now would be a bad idea*

Oh, and 9mm can be had for $6/Box at Bass Pro.

(I work there when not at school, as a mostly unskilled cheap laborer)

Friday nights and Sunday dawn-shift.

Doesn't save me any on ammo :(

Hap Baker range badge is $70 per year for non-Caroll County residents. Membership is January 1st - December 31st but I'm pretty sure that the 2007 range badges are for sale now and you can use them for the rest of 2006.

The closest WalMarts to you are in Owings Mills right off Reisterstown Road. There is another one in the Hunt Valley mall where there is also a Dick's. The closest gun shop is White Marsh Arms up in Reisterstown right on Reisterstown Road.

I also have a yearly membership at On Target and from Reisterstown it takes me about 40 mintues on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
