I got a used Mech Tech CCU for the 45 frame a little while ago and need a little help. The bolt slides freely without a frame on it, however as soon as I attached the 45 to it, the bolt is binding on something. I can't see where it is sliding and don't know how to take it apart because I did not get any manual or instructions for it. The seller was not much help, it worked on their frame, and I can not get any response to emails or phone calls to Mech Tech.

Any suggestions where to find a manual? Or has anyone had a similiar experience and there is a just little polishing or tweaking to final fit it? Or does anyone have a phone number or email address to Mech Tech that actually gets a response?

Thanks!

Since they do not sell directly to the public you may have a problem getting info directly from Mech Tech. Fortunately they do have a state-by-state listing of retailers that carry their products. I don't know what state you're in but you might be able to convince a retailer in your area to let you peek at the manual. Especially if you buy something else from them. Ammo or what not.

Go here -

And look for a retailer in your state.

Congrats on your CCU.
The unit is supposed to be installed on your pistol frame
with the bolt locked back. Try that.
Also, if your 1911 is a Series 80, make sure the firing
pin safety lever is pressed down into the frame before
installing the CCU.
With a red-dot sight on it you'll have a great little
shooter.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. I did have the bolt locked back when installing the frame, so that wasn't it.

In case someone has similiar problem, the extractor on the 45 frame was just a hair too tall. About 2 minutes on a stone and the bolt slides freely. Amount of material removed was barely measureable with the dial caliper. It took "painting" the bolt with black marker to see what was rubbing.
