does the mega lower receiver come as a multi caliber lower cause i want to have an m4 style ar15 that can shoot both .223 and something big enough to kill a whitetail deer. can someone help me out and tell me if its true or not that the mega lower is a multi caliber lower reciever.

thanks
vinnie

Well....that all depends on what calibers you want.

The Mega will handle all the calibers that a regular AR will.......

.223, 5.56, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, .50 Beowulf and more........

Any AR15 lower can handle multiple calibers.
I have a .458 Socom upper on a Mega Lower.

the mega's are stamped 'multi' where the caliber goes.

the lower has nothing to do w/ what cartridge the gun shoots; that is all in the upper receiver, particularly how the barrel is chambered.

Some pistol caliber lowers are machined different as is the AR10 lower I believe.

The only AR pistol lowers that I know of right now that are machined a bit different are the CAVARMS lowers, and they are polymer with the inside of the magwell molded to accept .45 thompson?...it might be grease gun mags as well as standard AR mags. Colt does have some lowers with the pinned in mag blocks for their ARs. I use a removable colt type mag block for my 9mm AR.

The AR10, Bushy .308 and DPMS lowers are all special lowers lengthened to accept longer .308 mags.

Good Shooting

M G I is supposed to be coming out w/ a modular lower that will be able to accept different calibers by changing the magwell. Would go nice w/ their quick change barrel system for the AR15 upper assembly.
