I recently recieved my Melonite 4566. This has been a "holy grail" gun for me.

It is a beautiful pistol indeed. S&W really did this handgun right.

Novak night sights, and a very nice job coating the stainless in Melonite with a Rockwell hardness scale of 67. Impervious to scratches, and allegedly VERY resistant to holster wear. We'll see ;)

I have run 200 rounds through it and am very impressed. All rounds were 230 grain Winchester. Some ball and the majority old JHP's. My Melonite 4566 ate them all and spit them into groups less than three inches at fifteen yards (been awhile since I shot a 45!!) The pistol is more accurate than I.

The story I got from the seller was that he purchased this pistol NIB eight years ago, and it had been in a safe since. It was an overun from an order placed by the Marshal's Service.

On another board, I saw where a small maritime law enforcement agency had ordered 50 of these pistols as well. In fact, there are some NIB examples for sale listed over there in a thread in the semi auto section. Also a very nice used Melonite 4566 in the classifieds, for an EXTREMELY nice price. Quite a bit less than I paid for mine.

Very nice commander size pistol, and it looks "just right" in black. If you have an oppotunity to get one, do so! You will be glad you did! :) TJ

No pics. Ex-wife had a better divorce attorney and got the camera. :uhoh:

You can see one identical to mine, in the classifieds on Sigforum. :) TJ
