Mentors in Reloading: Who Guided You?

Self taught with multiple books and manuals from the local library. When I wanted to try 30 caliber matches in 1990 it was the only way I could afford to shoot. Thank goodness for MidwayUSA. Got a Lyman single stage kit and slowly graduated over the years turrets, multiple calibers, and eventually dabbled a little with casting though truth by told I developed an affliction for surplus so volume has been on-again off-again depending on whats available and fun to shoot. Chasing tiny groups had its fun, but once I realized 2 MOA kills things just as easily and just dead as a 1/2 MOA within 300 yards volume became a lot more interesting.

I joined a local rifle club at 20 years of age and got my Firearms Certificate a year later (don't forget, I'm in the UK here). I bought a Marlin 1894 in .357/.38 for my 21st birthday. The club secretary invited me round to his place and showed me how to load up some .38spl gallery loads using my consumables, but his equipment.

It's been 7 years since then and I now load for a total of 7 calibres, some military surplus calibres which are just too expensive to keep feeding factory ammo to, but also some ammunition that you can't pick up off the shelf. I learned everything else through online forums, of which THR is one of them, or through speaking with friends in the various rifle clubs I shoot at. I now help a bunch of guys out who are just getting into handloading and aren't quite sure which ways to go about it or what good combinations are. It always makes me smile when I see that person the next time and your recommendation has made a difference! That is what it's all about, right?

EDIT: To fix some spelling mistakes.

I had to teach myself. I had guys at work I could ask questions, but they live an hour away from me. I used youtube and The HighRoad. Load of smart guys here. My first reloads on July 7th, 2013 were for a 38sp, 158gr Speer LRN, 3.5gr W231, CCI 500 primer. Made 14 rounds, my crimp sucked, but the bullets fired just fine. Since then I have load 19,356 rounds, a mix of 38spl, 357mag, 9mm, 44spl, 44mag and 380 ACP.
