How are most of you folks metering clays. I have all Lee powder the flakes are so big the only way I can get it to drop 3 grs. accurately is with the Perfect Powder measure. I was trying to get it to drop with a Lee Turret and disc's but jeez what a pain.

I'm metering a Clays charge of about 3.4gr for my plinking loads, which is accurately achieved for my modest requirements in a modified Dillon powder measure.

You have to remember that the Lee measures are plastic, which means they have inherent restrictions...
• Susceptibility to static, and thereby "static cling"
• Poor ability to transmit vibration, and therefore some density consistency issues
• And typically no powder baffle

Lee equipment is THE BEST value for the price. But you have to recognize that Lee equipment does come with a few restrictions. Doesn't mean these can't be worked around, it's simply the reality.

Get yourself a Lee auto drum powder measure and enjoy consistent throws of whatever powder you want to use. I can consistently meter clays, 700x, e3, and any other powder I choose less than 3 grains no problem.

I use to struggle with the discs too until this measure came out. The big difference is the size of the cavities the powder is dropping into. With the discs you are dropping powder into a smaller diameter, deeper hole, making powder bridging much more likely. The auto drum uses a much larger diameter hole that you can make shallow for small throws, plus the powder is dropping down into the hole at a slight angle making it almost impossible for the powder to bridge up and throw a squib.

This is the best thing Lee has done for the world of reloading in years. Added bonus, it's cheap, about $35 from Titan reloading, and you can screw the measure into the powder threw die you already have.

I load Clays all the time with no problems with my Lee Auto Disk....you need to ditch the disks and get the Lee Powder Charge Bar makes life a lot simpler...they run about ten bucks

Thanks for the info ...............I'll have to give Auto drum a try means I have to buy another piece of reloading equipment
