MS Pro-gun bill needs your support

SENATE BILL NO. 2153 has Passed the Senate and moves to the House.

It will amend Section 45-9-101, Mississippi Code of 1972, to delete the prohibition against carrying a concealed weapon into a local or state public park, the unsecured areas of a courthouse or college/university or airport or parking lot, meeting places of governing bodies when not in session, premises of alcohol vendors unless posted, or churches, by a person holding a concealed weapon permit. It will also amend Section 45-9-53, Mississippi Code of 1972, to conform.

Sample letter:

Dear Representative_________________

I am writing on behalf of all peaceable residents of Mississippi, in strong support of Senate Bill 2153. Lawful citizens should never be told to check their God-given and Constitutionally-protected right to bear arms for self defense at the door of various places where they have every right to be. SB 2153 will remedy part of that, preserving our very right to life in some instances.

It is simply unconscionable that the lawful cannot legally purchase our required car tags, worship our God, or jog through our own public parks without first becoming defenseless potential victims of the lawless.

We urge you that if/when this bill comes to you, you pass it out of your committee and work for passage by the full House.

Respectfully yours,

Good Luck

I live just 20-30 minutes from Southaven/Olive Branch on the Tennessee side. It is nice to see a common sense bill go through the MS State Senate, since I often frequent north MS.

Mississippi has some of the worst rural crime out there. I hope this law passes as well.

Committee deadline is tomorrow, and latest info I have thinks it will die in committee, due to anti-gun chairman Bailey. Hopefully other avenues for passage can be utilized.
