Howdy folks, looking for some Power Pistol data from some of you that use it in 45acp. I use it for my jacketed rounds all the time in 45acp, but I felt like making some lead loads with a little more pop than my normal AA#2 load. I am going to be shooting these in a RIA compact 1911, a Glock 21, and a Springfield XD.

I am using Missouri Bullets 230gr LRN "softball". Most all data I have seen uses jacketed bullets. I use Power pistol with lead in 357 without any issues and dont see why it wouldnt work here either. Just wondering about anyone else here using this combo. I was guessing somewhere are 6.2starting to about 7.2 or so max. Any input?

Lj, my Lyman #49 has power pistol loads for their 225 RNL that usually casts out at 230 grains. Their load range is 6.3 to 7.0 for 919 fps @ 16,800 CUP.

Their #4 cast bullet handbook makes no mention of power pistol, go figure!

I just composed a post about "I've used it and it works great" and then when I went to my notebook, I figured out that I was full of it.

No data in the Hornady guide for lead, no data with alliant.

If you have a chronograph, I'd reduce the jacketed data and then work up to where you want it.

I like it for jacketed loads, but if you use Hornady data, note that I get at least 100fps faster than they do, and at max loadings I get huge variability with some spiking up to 200fps faster.

Contact the powder manufacturer.
Accurate has answered both of the emails I sent to them with load questions.
But Hodgdon has decided to ignore my email.

It's worth a try anyway.

I think I will. I have emailed Alliant and Accurate before and gotten replies every time. In fact I have been hounding alliant about testing the 45 colt with the 300mp powder(ruger only type loads). I have bugged them so many times the last one was a single sentance reply of "Not yet Levi."
