Gents,

Woohoo! Our legislators over-rode our crooked governor's veto, and we Missourians get CCW in 30 days! I have to get cracking and get good rigs for a couple of guns I plan to make mainstays. First is my Kimber Pro Carry II, and second will be from time to time one of my CZ-75s. I would welcome any input as to a good rig for each. When I was a reserve deputy years ago I carried a full size 1911 most of the time off duty, concealed under my shirt in the small of my back. I am sure there are far better choices for gear out now.

Please hit me with some suggestions for holsters, as well as concealment methods and ways to carry extra mags.

Thanks in advance!

For the 1911 there are many options. Not so for the CZ if you want
a holster specifically designed for Cee-Zeds. My first choice:
Holsters By Eric. Handcrafted Custom Leather that is built
exactly as you want it. He might have some CZ holsters or even
1911 holsters in stock.

Second: High Noon Holsters. A wides selection of holsters and
fast shipping.

Ive made a couple of holsters for CZ's :scrutiny:  and for 1911's also. There are ALOT of world class holster makers out there...just remember two things and youre STYLIN! Get a good holster...dont settle for "close enough" and get a good gun belt to go with it....both guns you talk about are stellar weapons. Both are quite heavy also....so the good gunleather is not only gonna make it much easier/comfy/enjoyable to carry....it will make or break your CCW experience with a heavy/fullsize gun.

Shoot well

Thanks for the links and advice! I plan to get something quality. I had a reserve commission about a decade ago, and had to improvise something suitable for off duty in warm weather. Being thin I just wore an extra belt and holster under my shirt. Worked fine, but this time around I would rather have something nicer. I suspect I will have to modify my wardrobe a bit and get some more shirts I can wear untucked.

You are behind on the story. The bill passed both house and senate, the commie governor vetoed, the Republican dominated senate and house over-rode yesterday. It is law. The media here in MO is having a fit, but both they and the liberal governor are SOL! Missouri is now the 36th state in the union to have CCW. By the way we also have reciprocity, so all of the rest of you are welcome to visit any time you want!

Just read the paper!

Congrats! Salutiations! Hallelujah!

Except For Johnny Cash passing this is a great day.

Rest In Peace Johnny! Long Live Concealed Carry!

My vote for gun leather is that is is hard to beat Bianchi.

Whatever you do, buy a belt specifically designed to carry a gun - not some Sears/Gap special.

Lots of good holster makers. I like Mitch Rosen's stuff, but he is pricey.

Amen to that. The belt will make a massive difference. I would just order a Sparks rig right now (or something on that level) and wait for it to hopefully pass in the senate.

I have been snooping around various sites and found out about the "tuckable" holsters. That is new since back when I carried before. Anyone have an opinion on those? Looks like just the ticket for a skinny fellow with lots of extra shirt tail.

CZ holster

I love my Falco shoulder holster for the CZ-75B. I recommend concealing it with Detriot RedWings jersey. Any other will certainly draw unwanted attention in my neck of the woods! ;)

Actually tuckables arent any better for skinny guys than an IWB carry.
Tuckables are great for "office carry"....deeper concealment but still not the deepest.

If you can wear an untucked shirt....go with an IWB holster, a good one.
65-80% of all permit holders have these holsters and carry with them for a reason...they conceal the gun very well and doesnt compromise grip/gun access.

IWB all the way!!!

I have a new Milt Sparks VM2H that I love....
But raftersgunleather.com makes some good looking rigs...leather and other exotics(sharkskin gets good review as does horsehide!) for a reasonable price. So does Tuckers leather. Aker makes a fine product too!
Bianchi is not bad, I have a very old pistol pocket that has seen ALOT of miles!
A good thick belt is ESSINTIAL!
Congrats!!!! A piece on the hip equals peace on the trip!!
Well, I know where I am gonna live IF I have to go back to the midwestern homestead!

Without a doubt...Sparks VM-2 horsehide for me too! If you want your shirt tails tucked in, order it with the kydex clips made just for that purpose. Gary Brommeland's MaxCon-V is another tremendous holster in the same style. There is no better method than an IWB for me. Buy your belt and pants two inches larger than normal and you won't believe how comfortable they are. Check the holster section at www.1911forum.com and you'll find the vast majority of 1911 carrying folks think the same way.

I like the Hume H721 for my 1911. Rides fairly high. Always check 1911 holsters with your particular model to make sure the holster or strap don't take off the safety, especially if you have a slightly larger safety than the original. Black Widow owners, take note.
