Hey guys, I'm using data off of alliant's website for loading my Rainier 180grain TC bullets for my 40S&W.

http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/RecipeDetail.aspx?title=Pistols%20and%20Revolvers&gtypeid=1&weight=180&shellid=1022&bulletid=445

It has a value of 4.5grains but doesnt state starting load or Max load. Does anyone know which it is. I tryed calling Alliant but was only able to leave my number. I was thinking of going to 4.7grains after shooting the rounds at 4.5grains. From what I could tell they didnt have as much recoil as factory rounds. Thanks for the help.

Jay

I think it covers your question at
http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/
where it says:

REDUCE LOADING DATA 10% TO START AND WORK-UP.

DO NOT EXCEED THE LOADS DISPLAYED ON THE SITE OR ALLIANT'S RELOADERS GUIDE.

Feel is not a reliable guide to chamber pressure or even velocity.
Bullseye is a fast burning powder and may reach maximum pressure before it reaches standard velocity.
.40 S&W is a hot cartridge running on the ragged edge of brass strength and chamber design. I wouldn't push it.

Thank you!

thank you sir! Stupid me totally brushed over that text. So I started out my rounds at max instead of worked up. I really wish they would display their data like every other manufacture of powder. But thats just me. thanks, Jay
