Model 10 Frame size?

Hi guys,

I have a question.
I've been looking at alot of S&W's, and one thing I keep noticing, is that the CURRENT Model 10 versus the older Model 10's, it looks like the older M10's are built on a J-Frame! I know they are both K-frame, but the generational difference they just looks like 25% smaller...

Are they actually smaller, or what is the deal?

The older Model 10s probably appear to be smaller because they had skinny pencil barrels and tiny wood stocks. The newer models have heavy barrels and thicker wood or rubber stocks, making them appear significantly larger/beefier.

A pic of both side by side would illustrate the point, but I don't have such a pic.

Both were/are K frames. jad0110 is correct on how your eyes are being deceived.

I'll add my voice to the above answers. The frame is the same buy our eyes can play tricks on us.
