It's mine, All mine,
I just came home with a nice ANIB 25-2 6" barrel that one could just fall into the bluing. The grips are gorgeous and the toys are all there, Box, tools- in the wrapper, 1/2 moon clips and all the papers. SN 900xxx makes it around 1981, Not bad, it has more of a cylinder ring now that I have it. Gotta shoot it tomorrow, The shop owner even gave me a deal on 2 double cavity 45 molds for bullets, a 230 gr RN and 255 Gr SWC, nice Lyman molds for $30.
No Camera but it looks great. 477 otd tax and nics.

Now I need to find some moonclips and a moonclip tool. I have a piece of pipe for demooning.

For all of those S&W freaks what was the cylinder throat problem that 25's had????

Get a bunch of Auto Rim cases. The moon clips end up bent and dragging on the recoil shield.

If I were to have a 25-2 today, I'd shoot the AR cases at the range. For serious social work I'd use new full moon clips only, and the 45 acp loads superglued to the moon clips - you do know that if you get leather to hold 45 Colt speedloaders you can get 2 fullmoon clips into each of the double speedloader pouches - for a total of 4 fullmoons.

And by all means find some of the Speer, Hornady, Sierra, Lyman, etc., manuals from the 60's and early 70's. Back then they gave you hot loads that the gun would handle well. Also buy a 50 lb. salt lick block and keep it handy. Don't take the old manuals with just a grain of salt, take several licks from the block every time you open them.

By all means, get full-moon clips. Dillon sells 'em for $1.00 each. Demooner for $17. I used to use half moon, but got so frustrated with torn fingernails I sold the gun. Now I've got full-moon clips (and another 25-2, only with a 1950 barrel).

As long as you taper crimp your reloads, there is really no reason to use the moon clips on the range. The gun shoots just fine without them. The empties are then easily picked out.
I load 200 gr. SWC for both the 1911 and the 25-2. The loads work equally well in both.

If you want some easy loading full moon clips for range work try these polymer moon clips from: http://www.beckhamdesign.com/


They work great from my S&W 625. I will say that their limitation is that if dropped, occasionally a round might come loose. For pocket carry as a reload or defensive purposes I still go with the all steel full moon clips. The demooner is available from Brownell's cheaper than from Dillon by the way.
