Model 36. What year is it?

Does anyone know how to tell what year my S&W model 36 is? The number on the butt is 73XXXX.

After the numbers 73, is there a letter from the alphabet
such as "J" by chance?

IF there is no letter associated with the serial number, it looks like a Model 36-1 made about 1968.

If there IS a J (i.e., J73xxxx) then it looks like a Model 36-1 made about 1980.

Can you confirm either or neither???
