My gunsmith is finally done with some minor maintenance and cosmetic work on my Model 65 3" HB. It was polished out to remove the scuff marks from two decades of use. A little bit of end shake had developed, so he fixed that as well. Finally, the whole gun was finely bead-blasted, and the front sight fitted with a large orange insert.

I really like the result, as I much prefer the finely blasted "frosted" look over the shiny stainless finish.

Had pretty much the same thing (minus the red ramp and plus a trigger job and chamfered chambers) done at S/W on my heavily used 3" 65 a couple of years back.

I was thrilled with the work (even though it cost about as much as the gun ;) ) Much as I like other stuff still not sure if they make a better civillian defense piece.

One caveat is that while I also like the frosted look, mine did start showing shiny spots pretty quick.. :uhoh:

Yes sir, a beautiful piece of work. I'm due to pick up my new(used)
Model 10 in a day or two, I just like revolvers. By the way, who
makes the grips ? Enjoy your gun.

Those look like Badger stocks to my eye. I've got a pair on my carry gun, a pre-agreement model 60. I didn't realize before I bought them they're plywood, but they fit my hand well, and weren't very expensive.

Bead blasting does a great deal to improve the look and feel of most stainless steel. I've had a few guns bead-blasted by http://www.magnaport.com and have been happy with the results.

Congrats

That looks good. Sign me up as another fan. I had the same done to my 640-1 (except no sight insert) & am really happy with it.

It almost make me wish I had a 3" heavy barrel K frame S&w with a round butt grip frams with Ajax grips on it.......

looks great, I would like to have one similar but to many other S&W's to acquire.
