Word of mouth is an amazing marketing tool.
Last spring I brought a pretty broad cross-section of b-school students and med school students to the range. They told their friends and this year, it seems that everyone wants to learn to shoot.
These days I take groups of three, as that's pretty much the most number of people I can watch carefully.
Two weeks ago I took three guys, none of whom had shot before.
They tried the 10-22, mkII, XD40, 870 and AR-15.
They were pretty amazing salespeople, because now I have got more people who want to learn than I have weekends left before winter
So, today I took three girls (in keeping with title IX ) to the range.
They learned on the H&R M12, 10-22, mkII, XD40, 870, AR-15.
On the car ride home, suprisingly they wanted my forthright opinion on gun control. I doubt I've made them into GOA members, but I'd imagine them to be a little more skeptical someone suggests banning "assault weapons".
On to a few pictures (they might be reading this thread so please keep the comments polite):

PS teaching the girls was good for my development as an instructor. For starters, two were lefties, and one was cross-dominant... which makes you as a teacher think quite a bit harder when showing grip, and sighting fundamentals. Also, the XD40 is an incredibly potent flinch inducer... but I've learned quite a few tricks for teaching people to break their flinch. By the end of the day every girl was hitting a 6" circle at 7 yards with the XD... which is no small feat.
