Since the weather was nice today the wife and I went to the range to get our shotguns sighted in for the upcoming deer season. Today I quickly remembered how brutal it is sighting in a 12GA with slugs, and turkey loads are even worse I shot about 12 slugs at only 25 yards and called it quits, the slugs were pert near stacking on top of one another at this distance so I know from prior experience I will be good out to 75 yards. Thank goodness the Nikon scope moves the reticle in 1/2" increments too, made the counting easier. I shot my last two Winchester slugs I was 2" high so just moved the scope down 8 clicks and called her done so did my shoulder. Oh and this was all from the a seated position, the range now makes all shotgunners use the patterning board since some yahoo tore up the rifle target frames one day. A nice surprise was that I found that Brenneke K.O.'s shot just a smidge tighter and to the same POA as the Winchesters.
Now my wifes 20GA Super Bantam was much more pleasant on the shoulder, it almost felt like I was shooting my 30-30, I might end up using that thing if she's not careful. Her gun really likes the Federal truball slugs, it was really stacking them just above the bullseye at 25 yards. While out doing some scouting yesterday I had two doe walk by me not more than 20 yards out, they were totally oblivious to presence, and no I wasn't wearing no scent blocker anything. They had better be more aware come opening day or they're ging to be in my meat locker Oh almost forgot to mention that on the wifes shotgun we're using those Williams sights that clamp onto the rib of the shotgun. They work rather well.
