I have a maverick I use for home defence and thinking of turkeyhunting but i would have to spend a hundred bucks on a barrel, would I be better off to trade this gun to a remington or a winchester because from what I have heard the mavericks are junk. Opinions please thanks.

The Mavericks are not junk, though there's better pumps around. As to whether you should trade up, you can answer that better than we can.

Adding a Turkey Express 870 to your battery will cost close to $300, and you'd have a suitable shotgun for HD, Turkey, and with a set of tubes, most game.

As you are now, you've a good HD tool, and that's about it.

Just keep the Mav, you will be lucky to get $100 for it in trade. $75 for one in darn good shape would be normal, I am sure it is worth more to you. Buy another shotgun to hunt with. I have been seeing some SCREAMING deals on mossy 835's, like 175-225 dollars!!!! Pick up an 870 express or a used 835 and use that for your hunting gun.

I have a Maverick/Mossy that I bought 1991 for $106 on a closeout. Maverick is Mossberg's "entry level" priced shotgun line. Decent quality at a low price. Plain barrel on mine, no extra engraving, scroll works, etc. But it goes BOOM! every time I mash the trigger.

I am new, as you can tell. I favor the Mossy quite heavily. Although pump action, the 500 series is my favorite and comes with two barrels.

Does anyone favor laser sights on their 12 ga. shotgun?

Lazer sights? No.

While these have some utility for other weapons, there's little in the shotgun's mission that would need or benefit from a lazer.
