The M65 280mm Atomic Annie. The only howitzer to fire an atomic weapon tipped projectile. Accuracy is secondary when everything within a mile of the impact point is instantly vaporized.
Seriously though, why isn't the .300 Win Mag listed since it's the cartridge used in the military's newest sniper rifle; the XM2010?

why are people getting so bent out of shape for someone asking what the best long range carttridge is?

get a grip....

have you guys ever heard of target shooting? varmit hunting? "stalking" isn't really the main purpose of plunking prarie dogs.

I don't think of it as too different from car guys talking about 1/4 mile times, or how many g-s it'll pull on the traction pad. Just because one might never own or use something doesn't mean you can't dream about it a little.

The "most effective ultra long range caliber" is going to be the .308 you shot a few barrels out of learning to shoot at its effective range, while you figured out what you might need to shoot at 1500, a mile, or 2000.
