Over on the Colt forum is a member named Don Furr.
He is well known over there for making amazing repairs and restorations of grips that you would think are way too far gone to be possible. He specializes in vintage SAA rubber grips, and Mother of Pearl grips.
The grips on my 1908 Colt Hammerless were pretty bad...yellow, chipped, nasty.
Plus they had an iron stud drilled through each panel to secure the backings on, and the iron stud had left rust imbedded in the MOP.
So far he's filled in the chips, made repairs to the missing sections, and cleaned them up.
He's experimenting with the holes still, trying different MOP powder and filler combos to get a more seamless look but just as it is, it looks tons better.
If you need repairs, get ahold of Don. He's a wizard.

And still not done, but looking amazingly better already. These are nothing compared to other repair jobs of his i've seen
