Hello Everyone,

It's my first time mounting optics on a new AR and need some guidance.

Using A.R.M.S. products to mount a scope on an AR-15A3 flat top's Picatinny Rail would I need Low, Medium or High rings to duplicate the height of the rear sight on an A2 model with the carry handle assuming I have already mounted a 3/4 inch riser on the Picatinny rail?

Thanks for the input.

I am not sure about the ARMS rings, but I am using a pair of Leupold QD rings and the High rings work all right, but could stand to be a little higher(IMO).

My rings are at .478" and the front sight post is still in line with the optics ( you don't notice it b/c of the magnification). If this is too low for you, I would suggest buying a riser to lift your scope up a little more.

A.R.M.S. anyone?

Thanks for the input...can anyone give me a similar analysis with the A.R.M.S. line of rings?

I had the ARMS #22H rings with a Leupold MK4 (sold them recently) directly to the flat top receiver (no riser). The scope sat high, but it wasn't uncomfortably high. The only reason I bought the high rings was for cowitnessing BUIS later on (which I never bought). It would have given enough clearance to have a rear BUIS flipped down underneat the eyepiece bell.

My Set Up

This is a custom AR rifle with an A.R.M.S. #40 rear sight on the Picatinny rail with a 3/4 inch riser with a folding front sight.
