Jackson City Councilman Proposes a 90 day moratorium on handgun sales
Looks like this idiot hasn't read the state preemption statute. He's proposing this, and apparently he's going to bring it up today. Someone needs to call the city attorney and the council and let them know that they can't do this. Relevant statute:
SEC. 45-9-51. Prohibition against adoption of certain ordinances.
Subject to the provisions of Section 45-9-53, no county or municipality may adopt any ordinance that restricts or requires the possession, transportation, sale, transfer or ownership of firearms or ammunition or their components.
