Is there a problem buying more than one long gun on the same NICS check without setting off some red flag alarm or something? I have heard that more than one handgun a week or so is a no-no, but I don't recall and couldn't find any info about rifles.

Next time I go to the local milsurp store I want to get more than one, since it is hard to get over there and I don't want to "waste" the trip. Why choose between a k31 or a yugo m48 when you can just get both?

I believe that it is more than 1 pistol in 5 days puts up a red flag, I have heard of nothing else but I could be wrong.

There is nothing in Federal law about multiple purchases of long guns, but there may be a state or local law.

Regarding handguns, here is the instruction to dealers from the ATF web site:

"If you [a dealer] sell more than one handgun to any nonlicensee during a period of 5 consecutive business days, the sale must be reported on ATF Form 3310.4, Report of Multiple Sale or Other Disposition of Pistols and Revolvers, and forwarded to the ATF office specified on the form no later than the close of business on the day the second handgun was sold. A copy of the form must also be sent to the state police or the local law enforcement agency where the sale occurred. A copy must also be kept in the records of the dealer. [18 U. S. C. 923( g)( 3), 27 CFR 178.126a]"

Thanks

Anyone know if there is any specific NJ law on this, then? My next trip to Sarco is looking up!

Gun laws are really messed up. You could equip your paramilitary team with 20 ARs with no trouble, but purchase two Browning Buckmarks in the same week and the ATF gets special notification to keep an eye on you.

Shrinkmd,
The folks at Sarco could answer that for you, they're the ones who will have to send in the paperwork if any.

I was at Sarco for the first time a couple weeks ago, picking out my Christmas present, a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I was in hog heaven!

I have purchase 2 handguns from the same shop at the same time in Texas without any problems. But maybe that is just Texas

Bought Seven (7) Handguns in one day!

Years ago, I bought seven S&W Model 65's for the NRA classes I teach in one day.

I was told by not one, but two FFLs to expect a visit from some curious LEO types.

They never came unless I was at work when they showed up.

As far as I can tell, nothing negative has ever come of the multiple purchase form going in.

I can beat that. I bought 10 glocks, 2 Sigs, and an HK USP all in one day.

It depends on what you buy as well. If you buy more then one Glock or HK pistol at time then an extra form gets sent in. However more then one Hi-Point or other cheap handgun then you may get visted by the ATF or some LEO.
