I am very interested in the modern replicas of the Stevens Favorite. FYI..In 1971 Savage made a commemorative replica of the Favorite and dubbed it the Model 71. The next year they began marketing a non-commemorative with full octagon barrel and case-hardened receiver and named it the Model 72 Crackshot. It was made until about 1989. In 1972 they also made a less expensive version of the Crackshot without a case-color receiver and with a round barrel. It was only made about 3 years and was designated the Model 74 Little Favorite. Then in the very late 1990s Savage again began making these type rifles named the Model 30G for the .22LR and then a .22 Mag and .17. So, my question is.....is there a source...short of direct contact with the Company.....to determine production numbers of these guns and is there any way to determine the year of manufacture of these guns from the serial number. Short of that is there any one of you out there who knows quite a bit about these guns that is not information commonly available. I am willing to share what I know...which is very little. I happen to love these little guns and want to learn all I can about them. I have purchased one of the commemorative 71s which is NIB with all the papers etc. It has an inletted medallion in the stock, brass buttplate and front sight and gold covered trigger. I will try to post photos of it on this forum soon.

Thanks in advance for sharing what you can add. I am really interested in production numbers of all these.
