I recently got myself a CZ-52 pistol and am very excited to get to the range, alas no ammo. Its a 1954 Czech military made pistol and was rearsenal in 1976. It also haz a Z on the trigger guard( Importer inspection mark i believe) The serial is interesting, its AZ ### rid (### stand for the serial which is around 100) When I received it I completely disassembled it and lubed it with graphite goo, attached a hogue handall to feel what i like better(Not sure yet haven't shot it) Couple questions though, what does the odd serial number mean? or is that not as abnormal as I am lead to believe. Also dots on the slide, There are 5... people say accuracy dots, gee I hope not 1 is supposed to be the best! And finally, one of my magazines doesn't push the slide lock up far enough to properly engage the slide... Any fixes?

For the magazine - make sure that the interior is not "crimped" and is smooth so as to not drag on the follower. It may just be a matter of a weak spring too. If that's the case you can see about getting new ones. Just personally I have fixed that particular issue at least once by removing a mag spring and just stretching it out a bit with my hands and then reinstalling it. I'm sure there are a ton a reasons why that's bad, but it worked for a cheap Pro-mag I had for a P95 that wouldn't lock the slide back.

As to the gun itself though, nice grips. Those sure aren't standard issue :).

Did you buy those yourself or did the gun already have them when you bought it?

Glad you all like it,
Ive been thinking about getting some internals for it like a heavier recoil spring(if it kicks bad) And Definitively wanna get a good firing pin. Also maybe looking at a pair of hardened rollers. Is any of these upgrades worth it? If heard that the heavy competition Firing pin disables a safety feature. Also does it reduce trigger pull? My trigger is already bout the same as a stock 10/22's. Then again I well lube the trigger group with graphite goo.
What firing pin? http://www.harringtonproducts.com/firing-pins/
What Recoil spring? http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto Pistols/CZ/52/cID1/mID16/dID90

Thanks and sorry for being so new to this, I try to learn as much about my new firearm as possible. I even full dissasemble most:uhoh:

I have the Harrington rollers (no telling if they're an improvement) and Harrington FP (it removes a FP block that didn't work well in the forst place and makes a BIG difference in trigger feel)

Can't help you on the recoil spring, mine probably needs to be replaced too, recoil is strange with the roller locking but I think mine is still a bit overly "bonky". (best I can describe it)

Guard your magazines carefully, they're rare because the Czech military/police method was to use the mag's floorplate as a lever to remove the barrel. DON'T DO THAT, get a punch in the right size, if you don't have a set you need a set of brass punches for gun maintenance anyway, they're cheap.

Mine is spotty on latching the slide open, too ... but it is getting better even with junky mags, I think it was just crusted up at the pivot point with old lube, I've taken to blasting it out with CLP every cleaning.

Not many things out there that I like better than the '52. And thats a beautiful one you have there. And like everyone said, those grips are magnificent. I would DEFINATELY get an upgraded firing pin as the stock ones are brittle DO NOT DRY FIRE until you get an upgraded pin...The rest couldnt hurt but I dont think they would be a necessity, the gun is very well built. As for the dots...Yes, LOTS of conjecture about them, but I dont beleive for a moment that they are the fabled "Accuracy" dots. I heard once that those are made by an armorors punch testing the hardness of the metal on the slide, that I can beleive. Also possible is that its a "rebuild" stamp..each Dot signifying how many times the pistol has been arsenal rebuilt. Again..all conjecture. One thing is for sure, ya got yourself a dang good pistol, congrats.

Finally got to shoot er today. Used the "winchester" metric stuff, cant believe i paid 20$ oh well at least i have some brass. I was amazed how little the recoil seemed to me, very controllable, surprisingly it wasn't too terribly loud either. Was just shooting to shoot so no accuracy test today. Will be testing later though.
