I thought AR-15s were crap the first time I shot one (a very nice Colt, no junker), but, over the years they've grown on me. So I was at Academy about 2 weeks ago and I see this Bushmaster M-4. I ask they guy behind the counter to let me have a look at it. I play with it for a min and I say to myself, I gotta have this. So I bought it. It had no sights, I got the O.R.C. (Optics Ready Carbine, this was part of the attraction, I hate the elevated sights on most AR's), thew on a hologram sight I had in the safe and took it out to play. So, I've been thinking to myself, why didn't I get one of these years ago....

Good for you. My father just went through the same line of thought not long ago. I need to get me a holo-sight of some kind. I think I would like that.

A question many people ask it seems.

While I would suggest a better sight, have fun shooting and let us know how she does.

Bushmaster makes very good rifles, if a part wears out before the 1 year warranty runs out they will glady send you a new part so you wont have to ship the entire rifle back, unless its a major problem.

Bushmaster shipped me a whole new set of springs and a new pin for the bolt carrier at no charge. i am gonna ask for a firing pin ,cam pin and gas rings before my warranty runs out hehehe, if you clean it and dont fire too much at the beginning and clean it then oil it then it should last a very long time.

Problem with people is they think Bushmasters dont need any cleaning or lunrication but they do , its a semi- auto . oil it good you wont have any problems..

anyways Congrats on your new ORC (Optics Ready Carbine) Bushmaster!

I really like Slip 2000 and MPro 7 for the AR15. As lond as the carrier is staked right, you shouldn't have any problems. I also changed out the extractor spring, o ring, and insert with a set from BCM.

My dis-like for the AR was mostly I didn't really like the 5.56 round. I'm having a blast with alternate caliber ARs. The 7.62x39 is my favorite overall, once I got some magazine issues solved. The AR-10 style big brothers are also very nice, .308 was Stoner's original design in the first place.

Same here. I've got a .458 SOCOM upper order placed with Rock River. I'm absolutely SOLD on it. If I want to go for distance I'll get a Mosin Nagant.

Congrats to you and your new rifle.

the AR have many configurations (way too many) maybe the one you shot wasn't the right one for you, (maybe a A2 or a scope on top of the handle?), now that you look at the flap top or a3/a4 setup you find it great looking plus you had a holographic so that config was right for you.
