Yes... don't let a tank run over it on concrete. A tank running over it in mud should be OK.
Seriously, put decent ammo in it, clean it at least every 500 rounds, hopefully sooner. It should last indefinately since it isn't a 40S&W.

j/kA good cleaning kit (Otis, Outers, etc.) to start. Clean & lube it after each range session. Use good quality ammo.
It should outlast you (...depending on the serial number...
)Everyone here has there own favorites when it comes to cleaning chemicals. You probally will be well served by almost any of them. Just pick up any of the combo kits to start with and as you use up the chemicals try new ones. Be sure to follow the lubrication instructions in your manual. In addition to quality ammo, with the hexigonal rifling in the glock you should not use plain lead ammo it should be jacketed.

Like already mentioned, you need a good cleaning kit...there are many out there to choose from.
As for ammo, stay away from lead (as mentioned in the Glock manual) and stay away from WOLF brand ammo. You might be temped by the cheap price, but don't be fooled...it's crap!

Get an Outers cleaning kit at Wal-Mart for $10.00.That will square you away on cleaning stuff for a while.Also get some cleaning patches while you're there.
one of them gun holder thingys should come in real handy. I like the holster made by bladetech, and F.I.S.T, some like the Fobus holsters which are quite inexpensive (as is the glock holster). Of course you can get leather from rosen, kramer, sparks etc.
And definately dump the plastic sights and get some decent steel ones with or without tritium inserts. Meprolight, novak, MMC, heine are some good ones that come to mind.
I presume you have a decent pair of glasses and ear protection, if not get them. And you may want to snap up some hicap mags, at least get a couple of spare 10 rounders.
Finally unless you have really big hands after a while you may find grippin the 21 is like holding a 2x4. There are several people that do grip reductions. I had mine done by dane burns and really like it tho it didn't do much for the looks.
And lots and lots of ammo.

Get a Bore snake , some FP-10, some old diapers, a bunch of Q-tips, and one of those green nylon double ended brushes.

glock recommends against it. Supposedly the polygonal rifling could allow lead to build up to the point where presures could lead to a kabloom.

You might try www.robarguns.com to give your Glock a custom, protective finish. I plan to send both my Berettas there when I have the money. Otherwise, remember to clean it after every shooting.
I really like Mpro7 cleaning stuff. works great. no smell no residue.
You need a couple 13 round magazines.
Keep the striker channel dry!

You mean like this? This is using the the word 'quote' in brackets before the quote then '/quote' in brackets after the quote. Try it out in the testing forum. For some reason, on this form and on TFL, the link that makes this easier is/was omitted. Possibly to conserve space?
I think I like it this way more anyway. Usually when a new member comes along, they inadvertantly abuse the button and it leads to huge quotes when the person only wanted to quote one little line. I've even seen where 5 or 10 pictures would be double posted because of using the quote button.

To clean my guns I use "Break Free" (It cleans and lubricates.)
