Thanks to Gamegod86 for being so hospitable and inviting me to my first USPSA match. I ended up signing up and shooting and let me tell you it was a blast.

I took my SIG P225 and was amazed at how fun and informational the whole experience was.

Anyway I just wanted to make a short post to thank Gamegod86 and let everybody else know that they really should give this type of competition a try.

Now, to find a nice John C. Garand match.:D

Cslinger, I enjoyed the heck out of today. I just wish I had shot better.... You did GREAT, especially in the first attempt at this game. But, be careful...It's addictive. It's like full-metal-jacket crack!

Maybe the next time the rest of the "Nashville Gang" can go, too. But, a note to Sheslinger, DavidTDM, and Darrin...this is not a spectator sport. It is a participation sport.:D Bring a gun. It's much more fun that way. Wish y'all could have made it today.

The conversation made the ride out there pass very quickly. it was very nice to meet you, and thanks to you and Sheslinger for the hospitality.

Take care, and I look forward to the next Powder Burnin' session.

I did that for a few months about ten years ago. I used a Colt M1991 that shouldn't have worked at all by listening to some around here but in reality never missed a lick.

Lets see, it was at the range at dawn Sunday morning to help set up.

Competition started at 8 just about the time the sun was well over the berms and made it REALLY hot.

Not a lick of shade anywhere, you get to stand around in the noon sun like a mad dog. Temps 90 plus, humidity 60%

Deck was a whitish substance called caliche (kah-lee-chee). Basically powdered limestone and fossilized seas shells. Can you say snow blindness?

10 stages and 20 or so competitors made sure you were On-Deck for most of the day. No lunch break. No rest facilities that I remember. You were so dehydrated you didn't need them anyway.

Finish up comp about 4 in the afternoon. Spend an hour breaking down stages in the hottest part of the day. Heat indeces in the 105-110 range. Did I mention no shade?

Drag ??? back to the car, drive home, shower, and collapse on bed till about 9 pm and then go find a bit of food.

Repeat in 30 days. Which will then be August.

All in all I had a good time but I don't know that I can do that anymore. In fact I quit after the August round since the next was the September and it would be as bad as the August. I planned to go back but never did. Maybe if I lived somewhere human :D

Glad you enjoyed you experience. It gets better as you become familiar with how its done.

What took you so long? You rate broomer....

Glad you had fun. Now you know what the buzz is about :p

You know, I've taken quite a few people to quite a few matches, and not once has one of them turned to me afterwards and said, "You know, that really sucked. I never want to do that again."

Congratulations! Keep shooting, keep getting better.
