In more than one way. I got to bring back with me the first shotgun I got to shoot ever. An Ithica Model 37 20g featherlight made in 1946. It was my grandfathers pride and joy. Dad recieved it in probaly the late 70's early 80's when grandpa realized that he couldn't really use it anymore cause of nothing to shoot at around the house anymore. It only went 100 feet to dad's house. I shot it when I was like 5....there are some very cherished memories that go along with this shotgun with me and dad or even me and grandpa. Well dad let me have it on "extended borrow", aka its mine but I cant sell it. It is in great shape. Wood is quite dark but really clean, for almost 60 years old cant complain. Action really smooth and tight, needs a little lube I do believe. Huge front bead. I just took the plug out that made it legal for 3 shot only hunting...so 4 in the tube, 1 in the chamber. Im just glad I finaly get to shoot it when I want to....not when dad thinks its a special occasion :D. But its going to get a little use to keep it "loose" ... but its too special to me to really do much else with.

Guess I got spoiled with good shotguns at a young age. Ithicas with their hand fitted barrels and buttery smooth actions....

Heirloom guns are special. I can see not taking something like this on an extended sea duck hunt, but a stroll through some hardwoods with it or escorting some beagles through rabbit habitat should be safe as well as quite pleasant.

It's too good a shotgun not to use. Enjoy, and thank Heaven for your many gifts from your father and G-father....

Oh, he's going to get some use out of it alright... :D

He has too many friends that are shooters to let that sucker collect dust. ;)

Know each other....no....we just work together all of 20 feet from each other 5 days a week and shoot almost every weekend :D

I just wish we had a skeet range here in Nashville that was cheap.

But Dave...the TNMafia grows every day :D

Haven't looked at one lately, but as I recall, Ithica made pretty darn good shottys back then.

First 12Ga I hit anything with was an Ithica 37. Had shot brothers 1100 Remmy a couple of times before, but the Ithica was my first "hit". Me 1 Tree Rat 0

The Ithica shotty I hit with was an early 60's vintage; last time I spoke with the owner (1997) said shotty was still in use.
