Last night in my sleep...

Years after all the national concealed carry reform laws are passed, some group (pick any of the usual suspects) convinces legislature/judiciary that concealed carry is again a priveldge, and not a right. Its mandated that since its a priveldge and not a right, that firearms owners/operators must be properly registered and insured... just like automobiles!
Extra insurance for pocket guns and two seaters.
A premium charge on nice convertables, and .22 kits
Having your insurance go up because you switched from hydra-shoks to golden sabres...

Made me shudder :(

I fear you rdream may not be far off. That's why a Nat'l CCW law is not desired. We need to keep working on reciprocity and write off the nanny states like CA, IL, MD, NY, NJ, KS, etc.

Of course, at some point in the future, the complete list of all CCW holders would be a great start for confiscation schemes.

It should be compelled right after mandatory voters' insurance (to compensate the disenfranchised) and worshipers' insurance (to compensate the liberals when the religious right turns out and influences an election).

No, i just had to make a mental note in my dream to let my insurance company know that I switched from hydra-shoks to golden sabres.

Of course, in my dream, I couldn't have done this until after I had snobbed the hot russian chick, had a martini, checked the high road, got into a high speed car chase, blew a bunch of stuff up, took a nap, went to my final exam for statistics in behavioral research, then killed all the terrorists.

:D

I'm glad we can laugh at this. My wife works in the insurance industry, and she recently attended a seminar where they discussed CCW liability issues. Now, most insurance companies do not cover deliberate acts, so an intentional shooting is not going to be covered. the concern expressed was when the P.I. lawyers/blood sucking ticks (my apologies to my best friend, blood sucking tick that he is... :D ) start to claim accidental discharge in these cases. Why is that a concern? Most shooters will decline to make a statement regarding the shooting prior to the case being investigated and cleared by teh Grand Jury. We talk about that all the time around here. So, teh lawyer will turn the case so that you pulled your gun on the poor, helpless victim, your hands shaking so badly that the gun accidentally went off. So, it was negligence, and the insurance money owes policy limits. Or, he'll take a check to go away.

So, the talk was of requiring a rider for CCW holders to cover any case involving firearms. Given that it would be fraudulent to lie in the application, the insurance company would ask if you CCW, you say yes, and you get offered the special additional coverage for CCW holders.

Afraid it ain't all that far off, boys and girls.
