My new P-11 shoots low, is this normal? At 10 yards it seems to shoot about 6-8 inches too low.
Seems like the only way to be accurate is to align the front sight above the rear sight. Other than this I am pleased with my new KT. Thanks for your input.

Call KelTec and tell them what's up. They have a sight kit with different sight heights to correct this problem. Maybe they installed the wrong sight at the factory. It happens. Their customer service reputation is A+ (but I've never used it. My P11 rocks:))

This page has the sight kit:

PS- First make sure it isn't you, or your ammo. :)

If it shoots low and slightly to the left and you are a right handed shooter, it may just be recoil anticipation, and you need some more practice.

Get a couple of snap caps, or make your own if you reload, and mix them in the magazine at the range. You may be surprised at what you see whne you hit one of the snap cap rounds, and in fact you are unconsiously pulling the gun low.

I have owned a couple of guns that I swore shot low until I had more practice shooting them and then they were right on the mark.

All of the above.

All of the P-11 owners I know, including me, have been positive that the sights were off because of shooting low and to the side.

I was shocked to find out that my sights were right on when I bore sighted it with a laser. Dry fire with a dime behind the front sight until the dime doesn't even jiggle, then try it again at the range. That drill develops good trigger control habits, which are essential with the P-11 due to the long DAO trigger and short sight radius.

"Fixing" your sights doesn't even cost a dime. You just need one to use.... :D

I had the same problem with mine. I ordered a sight kit and tried every combination I could think of. It still shot 6-8 inches low reguardless. I had a budy who had one and I could shoot his POA everytime. I really think if I had done a fluff and buff as they recommend over at the KTOG it would have been ok.

I traded it and a Taurus 945 for a Glock 30. It shot POA for me out of the box. Go figure.

but it is bigger, heavier, blockier (yeah, I know that is not a word...) and cost you 2 pistols.... :)

My first P-11 shot POA at 50' with 115gr,non +p and slightly high with 124gr non+p.My second one would be 4-5" to the right at 50',i could not adjust the rear sight far enought to correct this.I think kel-tec's are sometimes hit and miss with quality control.

bpisler,
if you wish to deal with your second one, KT has been known to replace the barrel and slide to correct that... Might want to give them a call if it bothers you.

I know kel-tec's customer service service is great but shooting so far away from POA should have been caught at the factory, anyway i sold it back to the shop i got it from.I would consider another kel-tec in the future.
