Yesterday I did it. I spent my share of my tax refund, I purchased a new rifle.

I was at Cabelas and saw that they had some Henry Rifles on sale. They had a standard, blued 22LR lever action for under $240.00. I bought one.

She is a beauty. Nice wood and great finish. I really like what it lacks. There is no safety tab, button, or even a key type device on the thing.

I will test fire it today. I'll take this rifle and place my Ruger Single Six in 32Mag on my belt. I'll be halfway towards a cowboy motif. Now I need to get a cowboy hat and boots.;)

a cowboy would never use the word motif... plus its hard to say with chewing tobacco in your cheek

but grats on the henry. ive always wanted one. its on my "list of rifles i need to prioritize and purchase"

Congratulations. Nothing's more fun than a lever action. Autos are faster, but they don't have that nice tactile feedback. Post pix and targets soon!

Had a Henry a few years back and loved it, really smooth lever, nice fit and feel. Sadly had to sell it :(. But do hope to pick one up again.

Post pix and targets soon!

PIX posting ASAP.

I took the rifle out for its initial trial. We are having blustery weather today,it is quite windy. Accuracy and ammo testing will have to wait. But I was able to function test the gun.

Perfect! Cycled flawlessly.

The rifle holds fifteen rounds of long rifle ammo. Keeps you shooting a bit between reloading. It can also fire shorts, 21 of them. Don't have any short rounds on hand, maybe I'll grab a box the next time I go to town.

The lever really kicks the spent rounds out. I hate to litter, but I couldn't find all those tiny cases.

Next weekend I plan on hitting the range with it. I'll take several types of rimfire ammo to see what she likes. I'll also sight the thing in.

It is set up to have rimfire mounts attached to it. I know a scope does aid in shooting, but this small slick rifle? I'm going to have to sleep on it.

Well, I finally had the time and the weather cooperated for some testing of my Henry. I took her to the range yesterday.

I took several brand of ammo and decided to see what it likes and sight it in at 25 yards. I am going to keep open sights on it, so 25 yards is a good distance for my old eyes.

It was grouping all ammo into one ragged hole at this range. Not only that, it was grouping the different ammo into the same area and into the same size group. The rifle doesn't seem to be finicky.

It was shooting high, so I adjusted the rear sight as far down as it would go. It still was shooting about two inches high at twenty five yards. The windage was perfect. Maybe the rifle is factory regulated for fifty yards?

Function and reliability were flawless. In fact, it does eject empties with some authority. I like to clean up after myself after shooting, this rifle makes that chore a challenge.

I really, really like this gun. I am going to save up and buy one of its bigger brothers one of these days.

Congrats on the rifle.
We have a Henry Golden Boy .22, and it's so nice I hate to shoot it...well, I like shooting it, but it's a really nice rifle.
Thinking about getting a plain jane, but I have a Winchester 9422 so I don't really need one.
In my opinion, the Henry is a much better rifle than the Winchester.

My brother used to have one . My daughter borrowed it so many times he finally just gave it to her. We just discovered she is left eye dominant, so now shes starting from scratch shooting lefty. She likes the Henry because she can shoot it eitherway.

I have never heard anything bad about these rifles. It's on my list to buy, but I need another .22 like a hole in the head.
