My old press finally quit-----------

I own and use a Lee Classic 4 hole turret press and a RCBS Rockchucker and like them both. I had no doubt Lee would fix or replace the broken parts as will most manufacturers. They want the good press like they just got in this thread and it's well worth the price of the parts to them...

Maybe, maybe not. Anything mechanical wears out or breaks, just a fact of life. lol

True story, but it's going to take one of my gran kids or perhaps great gran kids is the one to see it happen with my presses,

This is my current most used loading bench (i have more than one) and see those two presses on it?

Both were bought in the 70's, and i know for a fact the CO-AX has more than 80,000 rounds, and i'd bet more than 100,000 rounds through it. I can't even guess how many rounds the RC has through it! It's already second generation, as my father bought it new!

Both get the same treatment, a couple times a year i spray the moving parts with Break Free CLP, run the press up and down to spread the lube, and wipe off any that's running off them. That's it! Both are super smooth and tight! Both will be going generations from now!

I've owned Lee presses, yes they wear out...

I have had lee 1000's since the eighties and LUV em. I have multiples in most of my pistol calibers and I have green and blue presses too. I doubt I will rid myself of the red ones either. Used to be cheap enough to buy a whole press instead of pieceing them together for additional calibers. During college I am not sure how many thousands of 38/357,44,and 45 acp I loaded on em...

Glad to hear Lee took care of the OP. Makes me feel better about the CC I own. :)

I really don't understand some of the comments about having to pay x times more for another brand to get the warranty. No question warranties cost $, and you pay for it, but if anyone really thinks about it, it's a bargain. Here's a few thoughts to ponder:

Would you rather pay a bit more for US made quality, or pay half as much for Chinese crap 3 or 4 times over?

Anyone ever price out the cost of actually building precision equipment? Just because China can knock out junk for half price doesn't mean that is the standard to adhere to.

I'd be willing to bet the price premium for the warranty isn't very much on well made equipment. Maybe 5-10%. First off, if it's well made, they aren't going to be replacing components very often, and the confidence and trust it inspires pays off big in sales and loyalty.

Speaking of premiums, the fact that the manufacturer stands behind the equipment means your used press has a lot more value on the market if you want or need to sell it. And if you pass it on to your kids (or someone else), it will still have value for them.

What's the value of customer loyalty?

What's the real cost of broken and unusable equipment?
