Well this past weekend my son took his hunter safety course and passed. I had bought him a Marlin mod. 60 I was going to give him for christmas. Well after seeing how pumped up he was about wanting to go shoot and what not. I pulled it out and had him help me break it down for a good cleaning. It was a pawn shop buy. After it was cleaned and reassembled. I asked him how he liked his new rifle. At first he said it wasn't his. Then it sank in the second time I said it. You can only imagine the smile that went across his face.

Now all I hear is when are we going out to shoot. The bad news is that the local range is down right now. So I am going to have to drive a ways to a public hunting area to take him shooting. I may be able to take him tonight after he gets out of school.

SuperDaaaaaad!!! I bet it felt great to see that grin!
I can't wait, my girl is 2 and already shows some interest (mostly cuz she sees me looking at "pow pow" books.)
She did pick up a funny shaped potato chip the other day and said "pow, pow" as we were watching "Cowboys" on the Outdoor Channel...

Have fun!

I own a Marlin 60. You could not have picked a more fun first rifle: accurate, reliable, and pretty easy to maintain.
