Recoil on the first shot always seems weak, as if the round was underloaded. The brass barely falls out when ejected. The remaining rounds feel fine. Seems to happen every magazine, no matter what brand of ammo.

Any thoughts?

I also let it snap back on the first round, with no problems. When I first got it, I road the bolt down with my hand, but the bloody fingers cured me of that right quick. :)

Try lubing it less. I know, it sounds odd, but it worked for me.

You only need a very thin film of lube on the bolt, small drop on the recoil spring.

I think its time to clean it...

Use a paper clip to get the gunpowder residue off the inside corner right next to the feed ramp and bolt spring guide rod...

thanks for the replies...

This happens with both magazines, any ammo. I always allow the slide/bolt release lever to load the first round. I do keep the gun fairly clean, perhaps too much oil.

I'll give all the suggestions a go and see what happens next time at the range.
