I may have posted about this one last year, but I think I did it in another forum. My wife's grandfather has HIS grandfather's old SxS as a keepsake, and he wants more information on it if possible. It's a wallhanger now, as the firing pins were cut down to protect the original owner from himself as he got a bit senile near the end...

Anyhoo, it is a 12ga SxS with exposed hammers from approximately 1904-1910. The only wording on it is on the sides of the receiver, which reads "The New England". We broke it down and the only other information on it at all is matching serial numbers on the various components, which read "S 14835" or similar. It has no information such as caliber, "twist" barrel, choke, or anything else listed anywhere. The area around "The New England" is engraved in a basic pattern. The foreend is of the splinter variety and the stock is a pistol grip style. We took the buttpad off of it and it appears to have been stained with the pad already on the stock. There were no markings under there, just a circular mark where it was put in a jig during manufacturing. There is a checkered (on top) metal rib on top of the space between the barrels, with a somewhat shabby-looking spotweld when viewed from underneath.

Anybody have any ideas?

This Shotgun was mfg'd under this trady name, by Andrew Fryberg for Sears Roebuck & Co from 1905 to 1907
