HELP !

I've organized a "rookie rig" for one of my K-frames but am hoping someone out there knows of a source for N-frame duty holsters. Safariland, DeSantis and Milt Sparks are all negatives.:banghead:

The "gotcha" in my case is that my company's underwriter demands Level 2 retention. I can't say that I'd want to argue that issue.

Anybody out there have a clue?

Contact a fellow member "robbt" here on THR. He sells name brand older, but brand new leather for various revolvers. That would include security rigs for N-frame Smith & Wesson's, and his prices are very reasonable.

I wear a Simply Rugged for my 4" .44 spl N frame. Good retention properties, but not sure about the "level 2" stuff. Great holsters though.

My best understanding of "Level 2" retention is that two, distinct mechanical devices are independently capable of holding the firearm in the holster.

My K-frame's 6285 Safariland has a trigger guard tensioning stud assembly and a locking, push-button released loop over the frame at the grip. This loop is NOT a field holster's snap strap. It doesn't "open up". It rotates forward. The release button is between the holster body and the suspension frame. It's easy for ME to reach the button but difficult for anyone else.

The basic test is to invert the holster and shake it vigorously. Obviously, the loop will retain the firearm. The fun part is making certain that the trigger guard stud tension is sufficient.

Both of these devices make it difficult for bad guys to snatch the firearm.

That's the problem. There are plenty of nice field and concealment holsters for N-frames but few to none high-retention duty holsters.
