Nice choice. Either of the 2 are getting some reputation for their affordability and accuracy. To adjust the trigger on the Stevens, take the screws loose on the underside of the rifle. You'll need a hex-wrench. Look in your manual for a complete detail on how to adjust it, one way increases pull while the other lightens it. I think you can get it down to around 2.5-3 pound pull.
Also, if the stock isn't right for you, try looking up a Savage stock that will fit it.
