I'll be travelling to North Carolina for a wedding in the fall. I'm not sure if the wedding will be outdoors or in a church. (I have a valid Georgia Firearms License with reciprocity.) Can anyone give me any advice on whether or not I will be able to CC to this event? Will this fall under the "assembly" law? I'm assuming that if there will be alcohol served at the reception that will be a deal breaker, but I we're a Southern Baptist family, so I don't think alcohol will be an issue.

I'm also interested in learning about the legality of carrying in church as I will probably be moving to NC within the next year.

Thanks for the input.
Cheers!

This will answer all your questions. Best to read the relevant statutes yourself instead of trusting free advice from strangers!

Besides the interactive CC reciprocity map, it has laws by state on the menu at the left.

North Carolina General Statutes 14-269.3(a) - "It shall be unlawful for any person to carry any gun, rifle, or pistol into any assembly where a fee has been charged for admission thereto, or into any establishment in which alcoholic beverages are sold and consumed."

Without an admission fee, the assembly provision does not apply.

The alcohol provision technically applies only where there are both sales and consumption - unless you are doing the consumption, in which case CCW is a no-no under a different provision of the law.

North Carolina firearms laws do not specifically mention churches.
