Season's Choice Indoor Range (4713 Hartley) is hosting a combination Nebraska-Utah-Florida CCW class on Saturday, November 3rd, with a second class on Sunday, November 4th.

Both classes begin at 9:00am and cover all that is required for the class participants to apply for their CCW Permits in each State.

Whether you are a new shooter, or an experienced handgunner, you are welcome!

Pre-registration is required. You may pre-register directly at the range (see Don Miller) or by e-mail to me directly at [email protected]

I hope to see you then!

Paul,
Do you have plans for running an "advanced" class for current NE CHP holders? I'd be interested in learning more about situational awareness, retention, holster selection, different stances, shooting with the weak hand, shooting one-handed, "tactical" reloads, cover, concealment, etc.

It was asked..."Paul, ..Do you have plans for running an "advanced" class for current NE CHP holders? I would be glad to do that, but my "problem" is logistics. It works best if you do this outdoors, and at distances up to 25 yards (for some of the courses of fire). A logical location is either at a formal location such as Heartland in Grand Island; or, informally at a person's "home" range.

The class that I do involves much of what you listed above, plus institutional courses of fire (FBI, Federal Air Marshall, LA County Sheriff etc.), and some of them require up to 25 yards of fun!

I also like to work on draw techniques and shooting from retention. The goal would be for folks to leave being objectively faster and more accurate after the class.

Now, much of this could be done indoors...but where? In Lincoln perhaps at the Season's Choice Range...but where else? I am not aware of what the Bullet Hole (Omaha) would have for options, but at present they have not given me any postitive indication they will let me use their facility for any class (and that is not a complaint, just an observation... They likely do classes like this already and do not need an interloper coming into their site!)

I would be glad to do a short...perhaps 2-3 hour session at Season's Choice the early evening of November 3rd... but...my guess is that the interest is not very strong.

Of course, you can always take the trip to Minnesota for our all day class :)

While I like the Bullet Hole, they are pricey and the lanes are cramped. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable with a group of people standing around while I fumble around with my shirt and pull a loaded gun out. In that respect, Heartland in GI is much better since their shooting benches are open.

Another option is using a private range such as the Holdrege Silhouette Club in Phelps County or the Central City Sportsman's Club in Merrick County. Eastern Nebraska Gun Club might be an option too, they're near Louisville.

Of course, the problem is getting enough people. I don't know how effective a 2 or 3 hour session would be, and you might not get enough people to make it worthwhile for you to come down from MN for a full day class.

It was noted that..."I don't know how effective a 2 or 3 hour session would be,..."

True...but, one can focus for a few hours on draw technique, shooting from retention and shooting on the move in that time frame. Sort of a "lo calorie" class.

Again, outdoors works best...some guns, especially the S&W M&P semi-autos have magazine durability issues when practicing mag changes and they drop on the ground on hard floor surfaces in an indoor range.

I will be in Lincoln on the 3rd of November. I'll be glad to give you the mini-lite lo-cal version at $-0- ...you can then be the shill that tells everyone else what a great mini class that was, and I will teach to standing room only the next time I am in town! :)
