As a new loader to 223, I've read several posts on the subject and thought I get your opinions.
A couple methods I read were:
  • Using Imperial Sizing Die Wax on a Q-Tip
  • Mixing graphite powder and lead shot for a dipping media
What do you think of these?
What are you guys doing?

I use the Imperial Neck Sizing Lube, which is Mica/graphite mixed with micro plastic balls. Your second option.

The graphite does not need to be removed where the was will/should be cleaned off.

i use old school lube and a lube pad for years. now i used a inside neck cleaner brush and old school lube. for all my rifle rounds i put some lube on the brush and run the brush inside the case. does not take much lube. throw the cases in a bucket. the lube will start to run to the out side of the case while setting in the bucket. it does not take much lube on the outside of the case to size a rifle round. you need lube on the inside of the neck. After I deprime the cases they go into the wet cleaner.

Precision shooters often use a graphite powder to coat the inside of a neck before seating a bullet. It's a way to ease seating a bullet without undue brass expansion and supposedly gives more consistent neck tension.

Graphite powder works well to smooth out expander ball extraction on larger calibers.

I've never found .223 to need any inside neck treatment, although graphite powder doesn't have any downside that I know of.

Motor Mica (mica) is carried by Lyman. Most automotive parts stores will probably have it. Dip the neck in the powder and go. It does not have to be removed from the neck.

I load/shoot a lot of .223 and I upgraded my .223 FL die with a Lyman carbide expander stem. Very much worth it to me, no neck lube needed, came with an adaptor to fit my RCBS die.

Yea, I'm using carbide too. Even with carbide, I use a little Hornady spray on the case but not inside the neck. Makes FL really smooth.
