I don't have a current Speer manual, and my #12 does not list load data for their 45 Colt shot capsules.

I'd appreciate it if someone with one of the new manuals could look up what Speer recommends for the 45 Colt.

My available powders include Bullseye, HS-6, Unique, and 231. Those seem to be what the shot capsules like for the 38/357 and the 44Spl/Mag as listed in my old Speer manual.

There is normally loading data printed on the box they come in.

For some reason Speer has chosen to leave that information off of the 45 Colt box. There are reloading warnings printed in four different languages, along with the standard disclaimers, but no load data. I ordered from Midway two weeks ago, so this is the current box. Also a "box" in 45 Colt is only 25 capsules.

Thanks loadedround for the info.

I've got an older box with the load info printed on the bottom:

6 inch barrel, #9 shot, COAL = 1.575

231: 6.0 grns 925 fps
Unique: 7.5 grns 975 fps
Titegroup: 5.7 grns 920 fps
700x: 5.5 grns 915 fps
Bullseye: 5.5 grns 875 fps

Exactly the same as Speer #14 manual

Thanks philbo

I took a magnifying glass to the box bottom, and find that there are not four languages, only two, but still four sections. The micro print takes up the entire box bottom, so there's no longer room for load data. The warnings are:

1. Handloading warning in English
2. Lead warning in English
3. Handloading warning in French (mise en garde)
4. Lead warning in French (advertissement sur le plomb)

I use 7.5 UNQ and just fill up the cup with #7 1/2. It seems to work fine for short range, but I couldn't keep any shot on target past about 25-30 yards from my revolvers or rifles. Mostly just for jerkin around, nothing serious. The recoil is about half of 250 RNFP with same charge.

25 - 30 yards? :what:

Shirley, you jest!

No rifled barrel will pattern shot past snake killing distance due to the blown patterns caused by the spin.

No jesting here...by target I mean a 12 inch gong. And by keeping it on target I mean hearing a "ping" sound once in awhile!
