Hello everyone,
First post here so bear with me. I'm looking to see what ya'lls opinion would be on what would be a better mountain gun primarily for elk. I currently own a browning BLR in .325 wsm and have a model 700 in 300 ultra mag on layaway for a smoking price. I reload so that is not a big deal. Any input is appreciated!

You are kinda in the wrong forum.
But welcome to THR.

I will ask a mod to move this from Firearms Research. (Old or obscure gun help)

To Rifles. (Rifle questions)

Thank you sir! RC, you must be everywhere as I see your name in many forums or at least threads here in THR. Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm new to the whole tapatalk app thing as well.

Strange question.

Either of your current rifles would do nicely for elk. Personally, I use a .25-06.

The 300 will work, providing your shoulder can take it. I carry a 9-10lbs 375H&H for elk here in CO. But then most people think I am crazy for carry such a heavy rifle in the mountains. Honestly, I don't even notice the weight.
