Hi everyone. I have a little problem. My father-in-law had several guns in his basement that were just rusting, so I told him I would clean them up for him and put them in the gun safe he just recieved as a gift. Well, I saved the .22 rimfires for last and was putting back together a Remington 550-1 and found that it would not chamber a round. When I manually chambered one it would not fire. I tried taking it apart and putting it back together again several times- nothing changed. Then I noticed a small spring laying on the floor. This is obviously the problem, but I have no idea where it came from as it must have just fell out during disassembly. The spring looks like that you would find in a writing pen, maybe just a little longer. Can anyone help me out in finding out where it came from? I'm pretty nevous about it considering its not my gun and was handed down to my in-law by his father. Thanks for any help you can give.
