Ran into an old warhorse today. An 870 wingmaster, about 30% blueing remaining, no rust. Comes with 2 barrels, one 24" IC and one 28" full, both plain with bead. Forend just needs a quick refinish, buttstock has been cut down once and then put back together, decent job but obvious none the less. Also has a repaired crack at the wrist. If I buy it I was thinking of replacing the buttstock with an english style straight grip. Action is slick as glass. Obviously well cared for and well used. What would you pay for this one? Keep in mind that I have no use for it whatsoever, but it does look cool.

Be warned, 870s tend to multiply, just like 311s.

Wonder what would happen if they were to crossbreed?

So you're saying if I could get this gun for $150 it'd be a deal? Don't have enough in the emergancy gun fund to buy it outright, but I can put it on one of those there lay-away plans until next payday.

$150?!! Buy it....

This sounds like a great PETP project.

Personally, a slim forearm and a straight grip stock have long been an idea for me. It's been partially achieved by Jessica, the former YE 870 here in 20 gauge with the straight grip stock. I would like to get a corncob style forearm for it and maybe will eventually.

As for use, with wood as above and that IC barrel, are there quail in OK?....

are there quail in OK?....
not like there used to be.:(
There was a time when you couldn't walk thru a field without busting a couple of big coveys. Now, after alot of bad weather, fire ants and a lot of damned fools letting pigs loose so they can hunt those, quail are getting scarce.
My only hold back on this one is that I really don't need it. If anything I was looking for a 20ga auto. I really need a new 22 auto pistol. But for some reason this one just speaks to me. You can tell that she was used hard, but never put up wet. This was someone's grocery gun for many years. A companion in the field and blind. Oh hell, I'm too nostalgic, I'll go give them some coin today.

Well it's a done deal. I put alittle money down, I'll probably pick her up on the 1st. I was wrong about the wrist, it hasn't been fixed but it's a tight crack. Doesn't matter either way since I'm gonna restock it. A few surprises came with it. It has a sling attached but I didn't think much of it yesterday. Turns out it has a pretty nice sling set up with the fancy cap on the end of the mag. Then when the nice gal is getting ready to take it back she asks the fella who runs the place how she can make sure the extra barrel doesn't get misplaced. He says, "they'll both fit in the case." Turns out it also comes with an aluminum case. Now if I can just find a slug barrel in the same shape I'll be a happy young man. Well a happy man anyway.
