What is the average temp of a house fire? How long does one burn on average? What is the percentage of loss from fire vs theft in cases where a RSC has been involved? (i.e. Do more guns gets damged from theft or fire if they are in a "safe") Trying to judge where to put the emphasis in purchasing a RSC.

House fires can get UP TO the 1,600-1,700 degree range, especially a few feet off the floor. How long they burn depends on your local fire department. Around here, 30 minutes is about all you'll have at peak temperatures. In a complete burn down, you may be cooking for 3 hours or more.

Unless you're looking at an AMSEC or Graffunder, you're going to be looking at safes with sheet rock construction. Sheet rock insulated safes do not tend to do so well in serious fires.

Same with burglary. If it's just somebody that's going to kick at it, just about anything will keep them out. If they are going to pry or beat on it, most gun safes will not last that long.

I don't have any statistics, but I've seen plenty of gun safes after fires and burglaries, and many of them failed.
