You mean you aren't going to write off your gun and ammo and holsters for business expenses? It's a much needed piece of equipment required to do your job safely and effectively!
KJB, here's a couple articles I wrote that you will definitely find of interest:
And then read this one. It will make you crazy. Found this info out while doing research, getting ready for one of my guest appearances on NRA News. http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/article3317.html
Wow!!! That's awesome. Yeah....it's kinda a crazy thing more people in our industry dont carry.....at least none that I know of. I work in Fairfield County which is the second wealthiest in the nation, however, we have some real rough areas. I dont know why...I spent alot of money on my carry pieces and just stopped carrying for a long time. I am gonna start again though. The way things are going with all the foreclosures...the rough neighborhoods are getting the most action. I am showing these on a weekly basis too. Cant wait for things to change!!!!!!!! Thanks again and keep spreadin the word.
Don't let potential home buyers know you're carrying. If I was looking at a house and the neighborhood was so bad that the realtor was only willing to go there while armed, I sure wouldn't want to live there! LOL
Trouble is...., well twofold, some of those neighborhoods are all some folks can afford unfortunately, and the other is investors like to snatch those cheap houses up. Sometimes we're forced to go to those nasty areas. But then again, really bad things can happen to agents in very upscale neighborhoods as well.
No, it would be very foolish to let buyers know you carry. Why remove your element of surprise! Or, they could be the biggest anti-gunners around. It's on a need to know basis.....and they don't need to know!
A couple weeks ago a lady at a show home was sexually assaulted just at closing time. It wasn't a bad neighborhood by a longshot (Carmel, IN), not too far from my home.
The company rep got on the news and said they would have some safety training for the employees.
If it were my company I'd be handing out .357s to the ladies and reimbursing them for their self-defense training.
And sometimes it's not the neighborhood, sometimes it's the "clients."
