Hi al. I was at a local gun store and I saw a Mauser I liked. The only problem is I don't know what kind it is, or where it was made. I know it's not a K98K. Whoever had it before mounted a scope right over the Manufacturer stamp. Though it is marked CAL 7.92 on the receiver.

Mainly what I'm trying to find out is what model it is.

Thanks for any help.

It's not a K98, and it's not a M24/47 or M48 either. So I would guess it's either a Gewehr 98 or a vz. 24. Check the markings on the receiver. If it says something like "Ceskoslovensko Brno" then it probably is a vz. 24.

That's just it, they put a scope mount over the stamp. I don't know if it's intact under there or what.
