Need help in Dallas

Short background. I don't there anymore, but have a female middle aged friend lives in NE Dallas and works in Las Colinas. She has a son who is a meth head, been to prison out of control, all the usual stuff that goes along with being one.

She told me she has a .22 pistol for defense (I don't want to start on the argument) I was shocked because she's a native Texas girl and knows how to shoot.

I've advised her to upgrade immediately. The city is dangerous enough without having a crazed relative running around.

Now here's what I need please...I have to do this long distance IF she goes along with it. Can someone please tell me of a place in the area where she can rent and shoot various guns and also the name of a good defensive pistol course.

I'm not looking for caliber suggestions, just specific Dallas area ranges and courses.

If I'm not mistaken the outfit that I took my CHL class from offers defensive handgun courses, and they are able to provide pistols. They are found at mwchltraining.com. If I'm mistaken and they are not offering such courses, I'll bet that they can tell you where she can find one.
 
Both "Bullet Trap" in Plano and "Target Master" in Plano rent guns and offer classes. Hope that helps.
 
The Bullet Trap in Plano, TX has an excelent rental program as well as CHL and self defence programs. That's where I got my CHL renewed and they have their own indoor range. They are just North of Parker Rd. and Plano Rd. Phone for them is 972-881-0372
 
Hi everyone, thanks for great information as always.

Minor update. As I feared, she is not enthused about doing this. She has a pit bull and while I have no use for them, I'm glad she does. I'm going to keep working on her. She also tells me the law is changed and she can carry in the car without a CCW license. Is that true? It sounds iffy to me.

The Bullet Trap is in Plano but Targetmasters is in Garland. Both rent handguns for use on their range.
My daughter is a Probation Officer and deals with Meth Heads daily. Your friend is in a serious situation.
 
Yes it is true, BUT, you can't take the gun with you anywhere execpt to and from your house. And I believe it has to be concealed while in the car, not just lieing on the seat out in the open. I'm sure one of the CHL instructors that are on the forum will come along and give all the info on the law.
