Just got a new 20 gauge 870 HD (all black w/ synthetic furniture). Took it out of the box and disassembled. Wiped clean, etc. Have started reassembling and have a problem. I can't get the slide block/ breech bolt/ action bars back into the receiver. I've pushed the action bar release but nothing. It almost seems like the slide block assembly is too big/ too wide. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the instructions. There's a step in the reassembly where you reach inside the receiver and push each action bar outward as you slide the bolt assembly into the receiver. I can't remember the exact details, but the same thing stumped me when I got my 870.

With the muzzle end pointed away from you, receiver top up:

Press in the LEFT shell stop toward the receiver wall to remove the bolt/action arms assy

To Reinstall, press in the RIGHT shell stop, insert action bar assy 1/8" to 1/4", then press in the LEFT shell stop and fully insert

hth,

lpl/nc

ps: SCRUB OUT THAT CHAMBER! 8^)

It worked!!!

Thanks Lee. Got it back together last night, no problem. I was used to my 1100 where you only push on one side.

I also have the AGI video w/ Robert Dunlap which proved to be helpful. Anybody else have experience w/ these videos? Or know of any better ones?

I was having the same issue & looked up your post. Assembly could've been made easier. I finally marked the stops with a pencil without the bolt on the right action bar so I knew when to depress the latches. Worked for me. I was pleasantly surprised how accurate the gun was with inexpensive rifled slugs-wouldn't want to shoot those all day, ouch! Still awaiting the Knoxx SpecOps stock for it.
